It was another hot day at Villa Petra. Human made sure we had food and water, even gave us some bread and cantaloupe then we did not see her for the rest of the day.

But it was the night that proved interesting! Human locked us in our coop after dark just like always. When the winds came, and blow they did. Zena and I hunkered down atop the play house so we would not get blown off. The top of the house is slick plastic and there is not much for us to grip. Doris and Emma roost on stout sticks lower down but even they had to hold on tight.

Human has wind chimes that were ringing very loud so she came out and took them down. Plastic pots and leaves blew all around the yard. Human then did as she is prone to do and forced each of us into the play house. Much as we four protested, it was a good thing because soon after the rain pelted down. Our feeder filled with water, the straw became a soggy mess but we where dry.

When Human let us out this morning the air was much cooler than usual. The soaking made for easy scratching in the usually hard desert dirt. Plenty of bugs near the surface too. When Human moved some of the soggy straw Zena was right there to grab the many crickets and beetles that were hidden beneath. Crickets are fast jumpers but Zena is a good hunter and ate all that she wanted.
